Project Proposal: Empowering the Neurodiverse Community

Project Proposal: Empowering the Neurodiverse Community through the Neurolearn.online ‘Neurocoach’ Program

1. Executive Summary

This proposal outlines a collaborative community project between DECKACY, Eco Fresh Laundry Hub, and [Your Name/Organisation] to address the significant employment and social inclusion challenges faced by the neurodiverse community. By leveraging the work of Lane Anthony, the author of Autism a Superpower – An Awakening and creator of the digital platform Neurolearn.online, we will deliver a blended training program. The core of this initiative is the Level 3 ‘Neurocoach’ program, which will be used to train a dedicated team of community coaches. These coaches will provide strengths-based, neuro-affirming support, aligning with the principles of Lane Anthony’s upcoming book, Awakening the Workforce – A Blueprint for Neuro-Inclusive Workplaces. This project is designed to create a model for sustainable, meaningful employment and community integration, directly aligning with DECKACY’s mission and the social responsibility goals of Eco Fresh Laundry Hub.

2. Statement of Need & Rationale

The UK faces a significant and urgent need to address the employment gap for neurodivergent individuals. Official statistics paint a stark picture: the employment rate for autistic people is just 29%, compared to 80% for non-disabled individuals. This persistent unemployment represents a tremendous loss of talent and potential for both individuals and the economy. Traditional support systems often fail to effectively address the unique needs of neurodivergent people, leading to what Lane Anthony terms in his upcoming book, Awakening the Workforce, a lack of “meaningful employment”—work that is not only a job but also a source of pride, purpose, and genuine contribution.

This project offers a transformative solution by establishing a community of practice built on a strengths-based, neuro-affirming model. This approach is a direct evolution of the principles in my existing work, such as The Dynamic Development Plan (DDP) – A Strengths-based Blueprint for Pupil Support in UK Schools, which has proven effective in empowering individuals by focusing on their unique abilities rather than deficits. Our project will bridge the gap between education and the workforce, providing a new, effective, and consistent pathway for individuals to achieve meaningful employment and thrive in their communities.

3. Project Partners

  • DECKACY: Provides strategic oversight and a direct link to the community, ensuring the project’s success and alignment with charitable goals.
  • Eco Fresh Laundry Hub: Offers a physical space for face-to-face training and community building, creating an accessible and welcoming environment.
  • Lane Anthony & Neurolearn.online: The foundation of the project. Lane Anthony’s digital platform provides the accredited training, and his expertise, as demonstrated in his publications, will inform the project’s core philosophy.
  • [Your Name/Organisation]: [Your Name] will provide the in-house expertise and leadership, drawing on the established framework of the DDP to ensure a high-quality, neuro-affirming delivery.

4. Project Objectives

The project aims to achieve the following:

  • Train a Cohort of Neurocoaches: Enrol and graduate a minimum of [Number] individuals from the Neurolearn.online Level 3 ‘Neurocoach’ program, with an 85% completion rate.
  • Establish a Community Support Network: Create a sustainable network of certified Neurocoaches capable of offering bespoke, strengths-based support.
  • Improve Employment Pathways: Utilise Neurolearn.online’s diverse courses to provide neurodivergent individuals with certified skills in hospitality (Food Hygiene Levels 1 and 2), enhancing their employability in a key growth sector.
  • Develop Digital & Life Skills: Offer courses on innovative machine learning tools and other practical skills to equip individuals for a modern workforce.
  • Measure Social Impact: Implement a robust framework to measure the project’s qualitative and quantitative impact on participants’ lives.

5. Social Return on Investment (SROI)

Our project’s impact will be measured through a clear framework of both quantitative and qualitative data, demonstrating a compelling social return on your philanthropic investment.

Quantitative Data:

  • Employment and Skills: Track the percentage of participants who complete key certifications (e.g., Food Hygiene) and the number who transition into meaningful employment or start a new venture within six months of completing the program.
  • Participant Engagement: Monitor completion rates for the ‘Neurocoach’ program (targeting 85% or higher) and other courses, demonstrating the effectiveness and appeal of the blended learning model.

Qualitative Data:

  • Personal Stories and Testimonials: We will collect powerful, anonymous testimonials and case studies to illustrate the life-changing impact of the project. A prime example is George Matheson, a contributor to Autism a Superpower. George’s 30 years in high-level employment were defined by masking, a strategy that led to burnout and a crisis of purpose. The neurocoaching support he has received over the last 12 months has not only provided him with tools to unmask but has fundamentally changed his perspective on life, giving him a renewed sense of purpose and a compelling reason to continue his journey. His story exemplifies the profound, personal change this project aims to create.
  • Well-being and Confidence: Conduct pre- and post-program surveys to measure changes in participants’ self-reported confidence, social inclusion, and overall well-being.

6. Budget Overview

The total project cost is estimated at [Total Amount], allocated as follows:

  • Training Costs: All training costs will be supported through the purchase of Neurolearn.online courses for our candidates. Face-to-face delivery will be provided by our experienced, in-house trained neurocoaches, ensuring high-quality, hands-on support.
  • Administrative Costs: These will be allocated for project management, evaluation, and reporting, and are anticipated to be in line with standard practices for a project of this scale.
  • Marketing: Marketing will be delivered at minimal cost through a collaborative effort with our university interns, leveraging their digital skills and social media expertise to reach the target community.
  • Program Materials: Costs for program materials will be significantly reduced by utilising the digitally created resources provided through the Neurolearn.online platform, minimizing printing and distribution expenses.

7. Sustainability and Future Planning

The long-term sustainability of this project is a core component of its design. The trained Neurocoaches will not only serve the community but will also form the foundation of a self-sustaining support model. Crucially, we will seek funding for these newly certified Neurocoaches through the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). We will make a strong case to the DWP that this is the first neurocoach training program of its kind in the UK, providing a much-needed service. Many of the individuals currently working with neurodivergent clients, through no fault of their own, lack the specialized, strengths-based training needed to effectively support them. This project will fill that critical gap, creating a highly skilled workforce whose services can be funded by government programs, ensuring the initiative’s longevity and continued impact long after the initial funding period.

We believe this proposal represents a powerful and innovative approach to neurodiversity support, one that is built on proven principles, authentic collaboration, and a clear path to creating a lasting positive impact. We look forward to discussing this further with you.
